I have to admit, I have found very little good to say about X-Men First Class every time we hear some news about the movie. The latest news about the movie is that Jason Flemying has been tapped to play Azazel, the demonic mutant father of Nightcrawler. So once you also toss in the fact that Edi Cathegi of Twilight fame is also playing Darwyn a mutant whose powers allow him to adapt to any situation to survive, you’re making an X-Men movie with characters that ONLY big comic geeks know or care about. How many moviewatchers who don’t read comic books religiously will know about these characters? The general public knows about Cyclops, Jean Grey, Gambit, snikt snikt guy and maybe Rogue because of the Fox cartoon in the 90’s. I am fairly sure that when you revitalize a franchise with a bit of tarnish on it, it’s not a good idea to pull out obscure characters with odd powers to confuse your audience. Until we get a plot synopsis out there, I’m still erring on the side of this doesn’t sound like such a great idea.
