One of the best graphic novels ever was Fank Miller’s 300, the story of the Spartan’s stand against the Persians at Thermopylae. It was turned into a mega hit film back in 2007. The movie had a seemingly tiny $67 million budget yet went on to gross $456 billion in worldwide box office. The movie also did wonders for sales of the gorgeous oversized graphic novel 300 published by Dark Horse Comics. It now appears that we will be getting a 300 prequel of sorts.
In an article called ‘Hero Complex’ by Geoff Boucher of the L.A. Times 300 creator Frank Miller let it be known that he is working on a story titled “Xerxes”. The story is set about 10 years before the events that unfolded in the 300 graphic novel. “It’s the battle of Marathon through my lens,” Miller is quoted in the L.A. Times. “I’ve finished the plot and I’m getting started on the artwork.” It’s already being reported that Zack Snyder (the director of the 300 film) has expressed interest in the film rights.
