WHOSOEVER HOLDS THIS HAMMER: My road to Amazing Fantasy 15, Chapter The First: Big B Comics

Remember that goof who traded a red paperclip for a ramshackle house in Saskatchewan and internet fame? I do. And I think that I can do him one better. Anyone can get a house, but what if I tried to trade for something really important? Like a copy of Amazing Fantasy 15?

Here is the plan. I start out with whatever comic books I have in my collect and then try to trade up and up until I get a copy of Amazing Fantasy 15. The rules are simple:

1. I cannot put any money into this endeavor for the purchase of any issues (so no trade plus $50 for example).

2. The copy of AF 15 can be in any condition but must be complete.

3. There is no time limit on this project.

4. I am allowed to trade with the same person or store multiple times if necessary.

5. More rules might come along as time goes on.

I started this project back in August at Fan Expo but I wanted to ensure that I was getting somewhere before I told all of my adoring fans about it. I had a Good/Good + copy of X-Men #12 and #13; these issues are the first appearance of the Juggernaut.

And as would be usual with such projects you start with your local shop. I stopped by the Big B Comics booth at Fan Expo and luckily some young fanboy was asking to purchase an X-Men 12 and 13. Which the store didn’t have. Advantage Anthony.

So after a bit of negotiating I walked away with a nice, solid copy of Hulk 181 (first Wolverine). The king of the Bronze Age books was now mine and the road to AF 15 had begun.

As you can see the copy has a deadly flaw of some goof named Scott writing his name on the front cover, but otherwise is a nice copy (editor’s note: it wasn’t me!). A good first start on my epic odyssey. Huge thanks to Big B Comics (check out their shop here) for setting my on my path to glory.

Any stores or individuals will to participate in the most excellent endeavor please feel free to contact me. Your place in the annals of history will be assured.
