The Return of The Fantastic Four

This column is a little premature. The Fantastic Four reboot doesn’t happen until August, but I must say I have tempered enthusiasm as any of the several variant covers that I have seen haven’t really excited me. I like Esad Ribic, but this cover doesn’t feel like the FF.

I am not really familiar with Sara Pichelli so I am cautiously optimistic and will wait for the 1st issue to come out.

So this article is who I would like to see handle the art chores on a new Fantastic Four book. I would love to see another 50 issue run by John Byrne, but that is highly unlikely. So who would you like to see handling the Fantastic Four if the team of Dan Slott and Sara Pichelli don’t set the world on fire (no pun intended).

My number one choice: Lee Weeks. Lee is not only a great storyteller but he brings that old time Silver Age feel to everything he touches, from Captain Marvel to Captain America. From Tarzan to Magnus Robot Fighter.

I have attached numerous pics of his handling of the Fantastic Four for your enjoyment. My second choice would be Ron Frenz. For the same reason. Another great storyteller and he also brings that Silver Age magic to his work.

So again, who would you like to see at the helm of the Fantastic Four. I really hope the new launch is successful. I am keeping my fingers crossed. It seems to me that Marvel has really gotten the movies right but they seem to have forgotten how to do comics.

I really wish them well on the reboot!

Continued Happy Collecting!
