Apologies for the tardy post, I had an Easter dinner to attend on Sunday and I’m not sure how it happened but I ended up eating and drinking way too much, I got home in the evening with little ambition for anything except flopping down on the couch and falling asleep. As a human I don’t mind the time off to celebrate customs and gather with family but as a businessman its tough closing down two of the three days that make up the weekend. I’m raring to go now, me and the crew are all hands on deck preparing for Free Comic Book Day happening on Saturday May 3rd, if you’re reading this and are close to Hamilton, Ontario please drop by, there’s talk of a grudge match Superman versus Flash race going down.
I found some juicy stuff in the “going to eBay auction” pile this week, check out this great Russ Heath cover on All American Men of War #111, I like it so much I’m picking it as our Cover of the Week. I’m enthralled with that panel on the right side, menacing but I can’t stop looking at it.

Our “Splash Page of the Week” isn’t even a splash page, its a Gene Colan page from the back half of Tales of Suspense #98. I never read this story but as I was leafing through it counting the pages I started reading it and was delighted with this page. Mr. Stark was certainly a busy man, I have no idea how he kept it up, I mean all the girlfriends, the billion dollar businesses, saving the world… My hero.

Our ad of the week is this DC inhouse ad from Superman #286, pimping the release of Tor #1, this is 1975 and Sword and Sorcery was all the rage. I know DC went in with Warlord around this time as well but Tor was more Tarzan than he was Conan and I think that’s the reason the character did not resonate with the masses.

This past Sunday night saw another of our weekly icecollectibles eBay auction close. There were some great lots up for offer, I was tracking a bunch of things including our CGC 9.8 copy of Moon Knight #1. The book sold for $250.50, a hair better than the $250 the last sale earned and even better than the $225 sale before that, still lets not forget this book reached $1,350 back in 2021, crazy times. This book is floating in the range where it was back in between 2015 and 2019 and considering the census has probably doubled thanks to those sky high pandemic prices I’d say the book is doing fine and is settled in where it belongs.
