Be a participating member of the comic book community.
Your active participation in the comic book community is helping to create a very influential group whos opinions and preferences are helping shape modern pop culture. Yes, perhaps 2010 is the year everyone figures out that we, the comic book community, are now a very big deal. We’re big in print, we’re big in movies, television, video games and even theatre, we’re big at conventions and we’re big on the internet. Yes, we are big, we matter and we affect so many industries and media that it will be awfully hard to miss us in 2010.
We as a community will continue to collectively wield a lot of power. Our preferences in comic books will decide what movies will eventually be made and what video games adaptations will be attempted. We are a hip and savvy community that others will look to for trends and indicators. Money won’t move towards any projects without our collective approval. We should probably hire an agent and negotiate a price for our services.
Be an active participant, go to cons, visit your local comic shops, join online forums and wield your power by giving your opinion, by voting with your wallet, by being heard.
