ComicLink June Auction
The June Focused Auction ended last week on ComicLink. This auction really should have beed called the Marvel Silver and Bronze Auction (with a few DCs thrown in to make it look good). Only 1 DC cracked the top 30 in terms of price realized (only 4 DCs in the top 50). Star Trek #1 from Gold Key was the first non Marvel or DC again in terms of price realized (it came in somewhere in the mid 400s). Lets have a quick peek at some of the happenings.
Flash #105, DC Comics, (Feb-Mar/59)
Graded by CGC at 6.0 with Off White pages sold for $2,530.00 on ComicLink on June 22nd. Overstreet price guide value for this comic at 6.0 is $1,500.00. DCs from this era are tough to find. Surprisingly every Flash #105 I’ve had over the past few years has sat for a few shows. Perhaps I should have graded them first. I still think there are a good number of these books floating around in mid grade still ungraded. Advantage seller.
Star Trek #1, Gold Key (7/67)
Graded by CGC at 7.0 with Off White to White pages sold for $351.00 on ComicLink on June 24th. Overstreet price guide value for this comic at 7.0 is $281.50. This is the variant photo back cover (somehow every single one of the dozen or so copies of this book I’ve owned over the years has been the tougher to find back cover, a benefit of being Canadian I guess). A strong 25% above guide for a so so grade is a good result for this book. Advantage seller.
Tales of Suspense #57, Marvel Comics (9/64)
Graded by CGC at 9.2 with Off White to White pages sold for $2,900.00 on ComicLink on June 24th. Overstreet price guide value for this comic at 9.2 is $700.00. These early secondary Marvel keys are great books to pick up in high grade. First off they’re hard to get in high grade and second a whole lot of people want them (and will continue to want them). This book selling for over 4 times guide basically reinforces all I’ve just said. Remember that Marvel plans to do a lot with their stable of characters over the next decade or so. Advantage buyer.
Incredible Hulk #181, Marvel Comics (11/74)
Graded by CGC at 9.6 with Off White pages sold on ComicLink for $4,102.00 on June 23rd. Overstreet price guide value for this comic at 9.2 is $1,450.00. This sale is actually an improvement over the White pages 9.6 copy sold on ComicLink for $4,052.00 on May 26th. The result solidifies my stance that $4000 is the current going rate for a 9.6 copy of this book. Advantage seller.
Amazing Fantasy #15, Marvel Comics (8/62)
Graded by CGC at 8.0 (Restored with slight professional restoration) with Cream to Off White pages sold on ComicLink for $5,605.00 on June 22nd. Overstreet price guide value for this comic at 8.0 (unrestored) is $21,000.00. This restored copy realized 27% of the unrestored value which seems high but we must consider that unrestored 8.o copies of this book fetch over $50,000.00 which would make this restored copy sell at just over 10% of the unrestored market value. Slight restoration isn’t bad though so I’ll go Advantage buyer.
Another copy Graded by CGC at 3.5 with Cream to Off White pages sold on ComicLink for $4,355.00 on June 22nd. Overstreet price guide value for this comic at 3.5 is $4,200.00. This is a solid lower grade copy selling for a tad above guide. It’s a lot easier on the eyes looking at the CGC 3.5 graded copy of AF #15 in your collection than it is looking at the CGC 1.8 graded copy. A good buy. Advantage buyer.
Lets hope we see some nice stuff published by companies other than Marvel and DC go up on the next focused auction..
