James Gunn was Criticized for Making Pedophile Jokes on Twitter from 2009 to 2011. ( you can google the events if you need clarity) Considering The Walt Disney Company has made its brand as Family entertainment, its disappointing that they reversed their decision and rehired him. Maybe Mr Gunn is a great guy and a great director. But making comments that allow criminals to normalize their crimes, and to normalize such comments to listeners, should be unacceptable to a society that should strive to protect its children. Its easy to forget the terrible abuse of 100’s of Children at Maple Leaf Gardens for decades. The predators preyed on the innocent, and these damaged children went on to lives of pain and suffering, sometimes resulting in suicides and broken homes. The barricaded overpass over Toronto’s Don Valley Pkwy should serve as a reminder of this. Mr Gunn was over forty when he made these comments, and they were unacceptable. I believe Mr Disney would have felt the same. Its too bad corporate greed negates common sense and values these days. I say Punish Mr Gunn Disney. Stand by your decision. Give him a chance down the road again in a different project.
