Super Bowl 47 happened not too long ago, and music mega superstar Beyoncé rocked the half time show. Like a lot of music stars, Beyoncé has been in the movies. Her most famous role (to us people who like comics books) is in the Austin Powers movie Goldmember as Foxy Cleopatra.
Other music stars have been in comic book movies, so here is the list of music stars in comic movies.
#5 – Mark Collie – The Punisher

Mark Collie is a Nashville recording artist. He has been making music since 1982. He is no as well-known as other country music stars like George Strait or Garth Brooks, but he makes my list because of his appearance as Henry Heck in The Punisher. In the movie his character sings “In Time” to our hero, The Punisher. This song sends chills up my spine. It is just a bad-ass cool song, that usually makes it onto at least one of my mix CD’s every year (yes folks… I still make mix CD’s). His best line of dialogue in the movie is when he scolds Frank for bringing a knife to a gun fight.
#4 – Tom Waits – Mystery Men

Tom Waits is a musician who doesn’t really fit into any type of genre. In 1999 he was in Mystery Men as Dr. Heller, say it with me, Heller. Dr. Heller was an inventor who geared up the Mystery Men with non-lethal weapons so they could take on the evil Cassanova Frankenstein.
#3 – Will.i.am – X-Men Origins: Wolverine

The Black Eyed Peas Will.i.am’s feature film debut was X-Men Origins: Wolverine as the mutant telepath John Wraith. John Wraith (in the movie) was a member of Logan’s team, Team X. After Logan leaves the team, they disband. Sabretooth then hunts down and kills every member of the team. Wraith tries to teleport away from Sabretooth, but Creed grabs Wraith by the spine and kills him before he has a chance to get away.
#2 – Shaquille O’Neal – Steel

I know what you are saying. Shaq is a basketball player. But in 1993 “Big Daddy Shaq” released his debut album, Shaq Diesel. In 1997 he starred as the title character in the movie Steel. Steel was a weapons designer who becomes a street level vigilante to help protect his neighbourhood. I have to admit it. The movie is horrible and is mostly forgettable. Here’s an interesting piece of trivia for you. The movie Steel was produced by music icon, Quincy Jones.

The most famous person on this list is Madonna. She starred as the beautiful Breathless Mahoney in 1990’s Dick Tracy. Madonna was absolutely beautiful in this movie as Breathless. There was also a lot of on-screen chemistry between Madonna and actor/director Warren Beatty. That was because the two of them were dating at the time. The soundtrack for the movie, I’m Breathless, is a 2 x Platinum selling album. During the 1990 Blond Ambition tour, Madonna would appear on stage with a dancer in a Dick Tracy trench coat.
