Covered 365: Day 8

A great comic book cover matching each day of the year, 1 through 365. Please chime in with your favourite corresponding cover, from any era.

Day 8 – Classic Comics #8, Artist – Lillian Chestney.

Great whimsy cover by early female comic book artist Lillian Chestney. Controversy over the Djinn’s pubic hair in the original and the 2nd print (HRN 17). From the 3rd print (HRN 28) on the pubic hair was removed from the art.

  1. Not comicbooky enough for me. And it doesn’t help that I avoided all Classic Comics like the plague when I was a kid. I will pitch in a few bucks towards some ultra-high waist Lululemons for the genie, I don’t need to see that.

Still only surveying a piece of the population, but there is really a discernible drop-off in great covers at this point. Plenty of time to prep the first few covers, but if the series makes it to this point the deadlines start to bite and quality starts to suffer.

    My #9s:

    Hit Comics (another Fine)
    Sub-Mariner Comics
    Sub-Mariner
    Swamp Thing
    USA Comics

  2. Never was a fan of this series. This doesn’t do much for me as well. I think there are better #8 covers out there.
Out of the Shadows, Haunt of Fear, Mystic Comics, Beware Terror Tales, Ghost Rider Vol 1 are some that come to mind
