Covered 365: Day 6

A great comic book cover matching each day of the year, 1 through 365. Please chime in with your favourite corresponding cover, from any era.

Day 6 – Silver Streak Comics #6, Artist – Jack Cole.

Stunning, I’ve wanted a copy of this book forever but have never been lucky enough to snag one.

  1. Yes this almost made it into my suggestions but my high-level macro theme for collecting is “unusual”. (Also keep that in mind when assessing my suggestions.) The book itself is rare, but the cover is an ultra-classic. Of course inarguable as a choice.

    My #7s:

    Chamber of Chills
    Judge Dredd (Eagle)
    Nick Fury
    Weird Tales of the Future
    Wonder Woman

It was hard to narrow this down. I’m betting Daredevil and/or Marvel Feature ends up in the “standard” list, but I am looking for something a bit different. Of course Batman, but the 11th is this coming Friday… Silver Streak would not make my short list, but it is still a great cover, Finally Avengers Annual is objectively also not on my list, but of that and Marvel Two-in-One Annual #2, I have always preferred Avengers Annual.

On the last point, one of the themes emerging is that murky covers don’t make the list. A dark background is fine, but there have to be bright, solid colors on top of this. Also very busy covers are cool but somehow not “great”. I looked at All Winners, but there are just way too many minuscule details. Where’s Waldo is fun but doesn’t make for standout art.

  2. Shock Suspenstories 6 seems to be a fave for many but I’ve never been awed by it, I can’t get passed the bottom of the dress, I think its too frilly, too ? too ? too something that puts me off the cover.

  3. I wasn’t sure of to post comments on suggestions but for now think I’ll go with responding to the issue # on the day of as opposed to reacting to suggestions posted the day before.
