Covered 365: Day 40

A great comic book cover matching each day of the year, 1 through 365. Please chime in with your favourite corresponding cover, from any era.

Day 40 – Famous Funnies #40, November 1937, Artist – Victor E. Pazmino.

I was going with Space Western #40 until I stumbled upon this.

I’m not necessarily a big fan of Mr. Pazmino’s art but I will say he’s created one of the most horrific comic book covers I’ve ever seen. This is disturbing yet for some reason I’d like to own one…

  1. I agree Nathan that the art could be better it’s just that this is an anthropomorphic scene presented in the tradition that we all know and love where the animals think and speak like us. Had it been drawn as a scene where the turkey and the other barn animals are not self aware it would be tolerable, for some reason I found the subject matter a bit overwhelming.

  2. I really liked this one as well, but I avoided on purpose per my comment to #38. I agree with Walt that given how grotesque it is it goes beyond the usual funny animal, Itchy and Scratchy slapstick. One can only imagine the content of “Dot and Dan in Santaland.”
