Covered 365: Day 319

Donald Duck #319, Gemstone Pub., September 2004. Artist: Marco Rota.

I wasn’t happy with Day 319, so I protested and I picked the cover that made me smile. Marco Rota’s cover to Donald Duck #319 made me think “yeah, I’ve had days like that”.

I like Rich Buckler’s cover to Superman #319, good intensity on Sups and on Grundy.

Joe Kubert gives us a tough angle on Batman #319 and he pulls it off quite nicely.

I’ve always liked Scott McDaniel’s cover to Daredevil #319. What makes it, of course, is the little Daredevil in free fall. Somehow it reminds me of Paul McCartney’s little tree note bass line that punctuates the middle of Come Together.

A great comic book cover matching each day of the year, 1 through 365. Please chime in with your favourite corresponding cover, from any era.

  1. DD cover is outstanding. I didn’t recognize Grundy on the Superman cover though…thats not good. Looks more like the swamp thing from 1982 with Adrienne Jo Barbeau

  2. DD cover is great…Grundy looks more like The Toxic Avenger… and yes, not good . Donald is pretty good too!

  3. Agree with Dave and Gerald – really likes the DD cover. The impact of such a stark cover is very dramatic as intended.

Liked the other selections as well, but I thought the villain on the Superman cover was Clayface, and Sups was firing up the kiln.
