House of Secrets #103, DC Comics, December 1972 – Artist: Bernie Wrightson.
This is another one of those covers that just ‘works’, its one of my fave Wrightson covers.
Avengers #103 was a very close second, it could have gone either way. Web of #103 was cool and I thought Daredevil #103 had a strong cover.
A great comic book cover matching each day of the year, 1 through 365. Please chime in with your favourite corresponding cover, from any era.
Fantastic even if there is no story. I looked at Avengers too but I wouldn’t call it a close second, just a good battle cover. I don’t see Daredevil matching up against earlier daily picks, and I think Web is way too visually confusing.
#104 not showing me anything outstanding. As crazy as it seems, my pick is Adventures of Jerry Lewis, because it’s a colorful, crazy, action-filled Adams cover that tells a story.
I love the colors and composition of G. I. Combat, but it still comes in second, and there are earlier better G. I. Combat covers that didn’t get any love. Incredible Hulk is a winner. X-Men is a nice #1 homage but I am not a big Cockrum fan.
This selection may have been one of the easiest thus far, as this cover is truly spectacular in its art and its effect. I love the current run of Gil Kane covers in Amazing Spider-Man, but this House of Secrets cover is the clear winner, with no serious competition.
